Organizing Your Craft Room

By Referest · April 15, 2025 · 3 min read

A disorganized craft room kills creativity. Here is how to get your supplies in order without spending a fortune.

Sort by category

Group like with like: paper in one area, adhesives in another, tools in a third. This sounds obvious, but most craft spaces fail at this basic step.

Label everything

Archival label tape is perfect for craft rooms because it is removable and repositionable. Label bins, drawers, and shelves so you can find what you need at a glance.

Use clear storage

Clear bins let you see contents without opening them. For light-sensitive materials like certain papers and inks, choose opaque archival boxes.

Keep a project station

Set aside a dedicated surface for active projects. Keep your most-used tools within arm's reach and store the rest. A clean work area makes crafting more enjoyable.

Organization is not about perfection. It is about finding what you need when inspiration strikes.
